Spirit of Mission Days 2008

In the tradition of past years the 2008 "Spirit of Mission Days event will be a day filled with music, food and family fun. The Spirit of Mission Days will be held on the grounds of the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center at 6200 Martway in Mission.

This year we will feature a carnival, a parade, a bike rodeo for the kids, and bands for your entertainment.

Friday evening, May 9th will start the Annual Spirit of Mission Days with a special presentation by the musicians of Shawnee Mission North High School. Five different groups from Shawnee Mission North will entertain from 5:00 pm until 10:00:

• Shawnee Mission North Jazz band - sponsored by Casey Brothers Sinclair
• Emo-Blues band, Serotonin - sponsored by All Weather Window and Door
• Hungry Critter - sponsored by The Mission Bank
• The Broken Light Bulbs - sponsored by Credit Union of Johnson County
• Two Sum Three - sponsored by Kansas City Power & Light

Once again we'll start Saturday's events with a pancake breakfast provided by the Shawnee Mission Rotary Club. The Abdallah Shriner's Parade will be held starting at 10:00 on Johnson Drive between Beverly and Nall streets. The carnival starts at noon in the parking lot of the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center.
