Mission Bussiness Development Committee

The Mission Business Development Committee (MBDC) was established in August 2003 by the City of Mission, Kansas to assist in the revitalization and redevelopment of the Mission business district. Responsibilities of the committee include development and administration of investment and revitalization programs for this area.

Grant Program

Since it's formation in 2003, the MBDC has administered the Business Grant program of matching funds for external improvements to commercial businesses. During the 3 years of funding, we have provided in excess of $175,000 to local businesses to support over $500,000 in improvements to the City's business district.  

Annual Events

In addition to providing financial assistance to our businesses, the MBDC sponsors events that attract thousands of residents and visitors to our business district each year. In 2007, we hosted the first first sanctioned Kansas State Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, an event that attracted over 50 teams from across the midwest.

Meetings

The Mission Business Development Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center. All meetings are open to the public.
